We are elated to announce that Massage Williamsburg and Massage Greenpoint will be adding optional topical CBD Massage Oil as part of our clinical treatments in the near future.

Here’s a quick 101 of CBDs:

Will it get you high?

No. CBDs, or cannabinoids, are the pain-relieving compounds found in the marijuana plant, and can be used without the chemical component of THC. In other words, CBD won't make you feel stoned, nor will it show up on a drug test.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD has well known pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory agents. These active compounds have been added to massage oil to create a soothing, pain-relieving blend.

Who should get a massage with CBD oil?

People typically seek massages with CBD oil for pain relief, stress relief, and accelerating the recovery of injured connective tissue. Upon request, CBD oil can be added to any massage, excluding prenatal.

Who shouldn't?

Although CBD is a safe, all-natural remedy with minimal contraindications, clients should consult a doctor if there is any uncertainty. For example, people who are pregnant should not get a massage with CBD oil.

What are the benefits?

CBD has powerful anti-inflammatory capabilities, which has been useful in the treatment of chronic pain and overall discomfort. CBD is also a muscle relaxant, anti-epileptic, anti-depressant, anti-nauseated, and sleep aid.

Adding a topical CBD oil to your massage treatment can be a deeply relaxing option.

In an interview with Massage Magazine, osteopath Dustin Sulak stresses the benefits of anti-anxiety properties and how it may additionally serve to reduce pain. He also cites studies that show CBD as response for quickening the recovery time of injured connective tissues.

Adding CBD massage has the awesome benefits of a regular massage plus:

  • Muscle relaxing effects
  • Pain reducing effects
  • Anti - inflammatory agents
  • Anti-anxiety agents
