We Are Here For The Fashion Revolution!
As most of you know, April is "Earth Month" - a month where we are dedicated to sharing ways we can be more eco-friendly to help save the planet. From eating more sustainably, reducing energy consumption to preserving the wilderness - we are surrounded by initiatives to live a more sustainable life.
But did you know that Fashion Revolution is a huge part of Earth Month? April 23rd - 29th is Fashion Revolution week, where we acknowledge the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1,138 people and injured another 2,500 people - making it the 4th largest industrial disaster in history. There were 29 mainstream brands identified in the rubble. This disaster kick started the launch of fashion revolution which encourages consumers and producers to think of the cost of their clothing.
The "True Cost" documentary shares more about what goes on in the fashion industry along with the Rana Plaza disaster. But more importantly, it encourages us to to all take a moment and consider who makes our clothes, what inputs go into making our clothes, and what the ripple effect of what we wear has on the planet and communities of people.
Fashion Revolution encourages millions of people to ask brands #whomademyclothes and demand greater transparency in the fashion supply chain.
So being eco-friendly is also about the fashion you wear. We are encouraging our followers to support brands that are made ethically, using eco-friendly production methods and that have less of a foot print on the planet - not just in April but every month!
EVERY LITTLE STEP FORWARD COUNTS!
